Being a mother is all about multi-tasking, chiefly juggling baby needs, home needs, work needs and then lastly mummy needs. That’s why when you’re looking for something stylishly practical, a chic buy that will tick all the boxes – breast feeding, bad hair day, baby nap time, sick cloth or drab outfit transformer – you can’t go wrong with a stunning, oversized lightweight scarf. (scroll to the bottom to find out about a new competition)
My favourite ways to wear summer scarves?
1. Turban – Bad hair day? Slick back those stray hairs and cover up the wildest of bed heads. Take inspiration from the regal elegance of African turbans or the funky loose bandanas of the 1970s.
2. Sarong – On the beach? The easiest poolside cover up is a giant scarf tied around the waist or in a hula halter style around the neck.
3. Outfit Revitaliser – Giant scarves are going to be HUMONGOUS next season, make like Burberry and give yourself a head start with one thrown nonchalantly around your neck.
4. Sun Screen – A sunny stroll can be too much for a little one, so keep the sun’s glare off baby with your most vivacious scarf over the pushchair.
5. Breastfeeding Cover – I didn’t buy into the whole breast feeding cover thing, I just used my regular scarves to protect my modesty when MG was nursing. Knot a corner of your scarf to your bra strap and fan the rest of the scarf over baby’s head.
